How Natural Disaster Exposed Our Weakness and Proved Voting Does Matter
They want to control us with fear. But, how powerful would we be if we were truly free from fear? Our joy and peace would truly make us more than conquerors.
No More Excuses
There is a growing sense of disenfranchisement among all demographics in America. Today, many disillusioned Americans are convinced that their votes and voices have little to no impact and that the system is rigged to protect and perpetuate the power of the ruling class.
The truth is, there is a dangerous and deceptive fallacy undermining America right now. Many want us to believe that distant elites have supernatural power to affect their will on the world regardless of any resistance. The recent natural disaster in the mountains of North Carolina should have taught us all a valuable lesson. Federal agencies like FEMA, confused by delusions of “equity,” perplexed by procedure, and hopped up on de facto authority, are more frequently an obstruction than a solution to local crises.
There is no longer any excuse for the people to blame the federal government for our being caught unprepared or not defending our freedom. It was never their duty to protect our freedom in the first place. In 2024, the most immediate threat to your family’s freedom and security is the factions of actors that have captured the federal government and turned it into a labyrinthian beast of bureaucracies that do not have your best interest in mind, an ever-expanding blob of agencies who have instead conspired to make us all dependent on their promises.
A Biblical Perspective on Preparedness
When the power grid goes down, supermarkets will be cleaned out in 3 to 4 days and there will be 330+ million starving Americans wandering around looking for any scrap of food they can find.
All evidence indicates that those in charge today intend to make America and the very concept of individual liberty obsolete. The only thing that will save us will be the good men and women of our towns and communities, those who are awake and aware of this, the most immediate threat to everyone’s safety.
We recently published an article that explains how the centralization of emergency management has systematically undermined local and state sovereignty and created a dependency culture where citizens expect the government to solve problems instead of taking personal responsibility. This passivity, more indicative of subjects in totalitarian regimes, is antithetical to the traditional American spirit of individual liberty and self-governance.
Fallacy of Top-Down Power
Contrary to popular opinion, the sovereignty of The United States of America is not secured from the top down. Our liberty, prosperity, safety, and sustenance in times of trouble depend upon the continuity of our small towns and communities. Far more critical than any presidential election is the American people's awareness, readiness, and resilience. The true bulwark against invasion, catastrophes, and the breakdown of American society has always been autonomous local governments and the civic engagement of a well-informed citizenry. The floods, the feeble federal response, and the powerful emergence of local know-how and resilience in the wake of the disaster have shown us the way forward.
The bedrock of America’s strength has always been its citizenry’s engagement at the local level. While federal laws and leaders set broad national policies, it is the activity of citizens in towns, counties, and states that forms the actual backbone of the nation’s identity and values.
The Constitution was designed by men who grew up in the fresh air of the Peace of Westphalia, a significant point in Western civilization when monarchy and empire gave way to the development of the modern nation-state and the principles of popular sovereignty. Highly suspicious of tyrants, these men demonstrated a palpable disgust for tyranny in their public and private writings and built the framework for history's greatest experiment in self-government on an unwavering suspicion of tyrants. They believed that true power in a just society comes not from a central authority but from the individuals who constitute it. The founders created a system that empowered citizens at every level—especially the local level—to uphold liberty, justice, and order.
Yet today, many Americans feel increasingly disconnected from this vision, perceiving that they have no power and that their votes and voices are insignificant against a powerful elite ruling class and their political machine.
The belief that individual citizens have no power is a fallacy and a deception perpetuated by some who know no better and others who genuinely want to see American liberty fall. Whoever discourages local engagement is an enemy to freedom. America’s greatest strength has always been a vigilant, self-governing populace that checks and balances authority from the ground up.
Scriptural Encouragement for The Disenfranchised
For those who feel disenfranchised and disheartened, Scripture offers encouragement to remain engaged and committed to doing good. Proverbs 31:8-9 calls upon believers to “speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,” encouraging us to be advocates within our communities. Romans 13:1-7 urges believers to respect and participate, reminding us that government structures are instituted by God to promote justice and righteousness. He will do this through His people who are present in all quarters.
Micah 6:8 famously emphasizes the importance of individual action in preserving justice and truth, calling believers “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God,” a command to live out justice not as a passive observer but as an active participant.
The parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37 the Samaritan, moved by compassion, did not wait for others to come to the man’s aid and did what others were unwilling to do. Even when we feel disillusioned or are convinced all is lost, we are called to act faithfully in all circumstances for the good of those around us. Each vote we cast and each voice raised against evil is a faithful act to secure justice and mercy.
By engaging locally and voting, Americans participate in the preservation and protection of liberty and goodness, fulfilling a responsibility rooted in both history and Scripture. When citizens reclaim their role in local government, they embody the biblical mandate to act justly, to love mercy, and to contribute to a society marked by righteousness.
Do Not Lose Heart, Take Courage, Believe The Gospel
The ruling class wants to control us with fear. But, how powerful would we be if we were truly free from fear? If we genuinely rested in Christ’s promises and authority, our joy and peace would truly make us more than conquerors. This is why it is so vital that we understand God’s sovereignty over ALL things.
In John 16, Jesus tells His disciples, and by application, instructs us that the world will hate us because of His name, but that he would send us the Helper, the Spirit of Truth. He tells us that we can rely on the Truth when things become confusing because unbelief will cause even those who claim to be working for God will persecute and kill us.
“Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone.” (John 16:32)
Jesus assures us that this is God’s plan so we will not be surprised, so that we will know how to respond, and that He has not forgotten us. All of these hardships are precisely as they should be. The problem is that we don’t believe God. We lack faith. We love to claim God’s promises of victory, but very few are willing to suffer with Christ. Jesus begins these instructions saying, “I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away” (John 16:1), and concludes with another assurance,
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
Why do we not believe Him? When the wicked seem to prosper those of weak faith become discouraged. But, we must realize and affirm that this world is already under the full rule and reign of Jesus Christ. We are not winning or losing this battle. Beloved, the war has already been won! The only question remaining is, will we believe our Savior King?
Even when we lose, we win. “Jesus has not only overcome the world, he has death on a leash” (R.C. Sproul, Jr. Believing God. p.110). He told us to be of good cheer and to take courage because we have already been set free from fear of the world. This is the freedom and affirmation that makes us more than conquerors.
Jesus is The Word, Truth incarnate. He cannot lie, but we certainly can refuse to believe Him.
If we allow ourselves to be consumed by their plans and schemes, we will remain slaves to their deceptions. When we believe they have more power than they actually possess, we demonstrate lack of faith in Christ and show that we don’t trust that the King of Kings is really up to the task of our modern day troubles in 2024. When we fixate on the globalists and speak as if they have a supernatural ability to thwart God’s plan, we call Jesus a liar and a weakling.
The enemy, the so-called elites, and the shadowy cabal can hiss and spit all they want. But when we believe the promises of our Savior, they cannot touch us or overcome us.
Dealing With Fear and Uncertainty
What do we do with this fear, and how do we manage our worries in such confusing times? Repent of your unbelief and believe the gospel. Preach the gospel to yourself. It’s the only guarantee you will ever have. Jesus will conquer, and we will win—He has already won and so, we have already won. So let us believe our King and Savior.
The number one threat to American sovereignty is the loss of local autonomy and idle Christians. Defending American sovereignty has always begun locally. Today, it begins with faithful Christians believing Christ's promises and faithfully serving Him in all circumstances. Take courage. Be of good cheer!
